70th Birthday

A big, landmark birthday is upon me, and a friend suggested I make myself one of my own cards.  It felt kinda funny at first, but then I embraced it and decided to make myself a card in a box as I have done for other people's landmark birthdays.

I used "Box Card Dies" by Pink and Main for the basic box design as well as the inserts for the flaps and sides of the box.  The "Happy Birthday" at the front is from the "Greetings Top Edgers" die set by Impression Obsession.   The You Rock is from Kat Scrappiness.  The "70" is from the "Numbered Balloons Die" set by Avery Elle.  The tall strand of stars is "String of Stars" by Penny Black.  The circle of stars is "Star Frame" by Avery Elle.  The stars at the back are "Superstar Border" by Memory Box.

Birthday Cat

My former boss and his wife have birthdays close together, so I tend to send them one card.  This year I tweaked a design I used earlier this year.

I used the stamp/die set, "Sending Hugs," by Avery Elle, and added the cat from "Page Huggers" by Mama Elephant, along with a small party hat from Lawn Fawn.  The frame is "Wonky Squares Frames" also by Avery Elle.  The background is patterned paper.

Speedy Recovery Card

A friend is having knee surgery, so I wanted to make her a get better soon card.

I used "Meadow Backdrop: Portrait" from Lawn Fawn which included the flowers and clouds.  The rabbit is "Bunny Hop" from Sizzix's Tim Holtz' collection, and the patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn's "Watercolor Wishes."

Birthday Moose

I got new products from Lawn Fawn and decided to use some for my nephew's birthday card.  I was inspired by a card made by Mindy Eggen on the Lawn Fawn website.

Except for the Woodgrain Texture background by Hero Arts, all the stamps, die cuts and stencils are from Lawn Fawn:  "Forest Backdrop" cuts the opening, and has the trees as well as the mushrooms; the moose are from "Dad + Me;" the sentiment is "Giant Happy Birthday to You;" and the background hills are from the "Mountain Stencil" and the "Ocean Wave Stencils."  I used Copics on the moose, trees and mushrooms.  The background is blended with Distress Oxide inks: Pumice Stone, Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Broken China and Tumbled Glass.

Olympic Superstar

I made a card for some mother/daughter friends.  Their great grandson/grandson just won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, so I made a card in his honor.  He represented Australia which is why I chose his team colors along with gold glitter for his name.

May be an image of 1 person and standing
The frame die is "Superstar Photo Card Frame" by My Favorite Things.  I used the "Skinny Upper Alpha" dies from The Stamp Market for his name.

Sympathy Cards

I needed a couple of sympathy cards and used some stamps I hadn't used before.

The first card has stamps from "Sketchbook Bouquet" by Taylored Expressions.  The background panel is "Ornate Banner" from Pinkfresh Studio.

The second card has a floral stamp that I received as a gift from Altenew.  The sentiment is "Deepest Sympathy" by My Favorite Things.  The stitched background panel is from "Matinee Rectangle Layers" by Memory Box.  I used Tea Dye Distress Oxide ink.

Aloha Birthday

Tropical stamps and dies are very trendy these days, and a good friend who loves Hawaii has a birthday this month, so that works well.

The flowers are from "Happy Hibiscus" along with "Aloha"  both from Lawn Fawn.  The leaves are "Lovely Layers Monstera Leaf" from Honey Bee Stamps.  The background is "Woodgrain Texture" from Hero Arts.  I used a blender brush to blend Distress Oxide Inks: Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed on the flowers, and Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness on the leaves.

Eclectic Garden

I had a couple of birthdays to make cards for and was determined to use some new but unused products I purchased this year.

This is the "Eclectic Garden" stamp and die set by Concord & 9th.  I loved this set when I got it and don't know why it took me so long to use it.  The stitched background die is from "Matinee Rectangle Layers" by Memory Box.

Pampered Cat Birthday

I wanted to use an Anita Jeram stamp for a friend's birthday card.

The stamp and matching die are from "For Mom" by Colorado Craft Company.  I used Copic markers to color it.  The background frame is "FaDoodle Frames Scalloped Rectangles" by Whimsy Stamps, and I used a dotted embossing folder on it.

College Graduation

My niece's older son just graduated from college.  I made him a quick card using his school colors.  The sentiment is "Text Block: You Did It" from Papertrey Ink.  The stitching is "Just Stitching Double Rectangles" from Lawn Fawn.

3D Collapsible Frame

I saw Bibi Cameron's video on making a 3D Collapsible Frame and had to try it.  It has a shadow box feel to it.

The cats and cake are from "Purrfect Birthday" by Sunny Studio.  The sentiment is "Happy Birthday Banner" and the draped banner is from "Skinny Mini Party Borders," both by Taylored Expressions.  The background is blended with Milled Lavender, Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks.

Using a Die to Stencil

I'd had my eye on a die from Simon Says Stamp, "Spring Blooms Corner," and finally got it.  I thought I would use it as a regular die cut, but as I worked with it, I first decided to use the die cut as a stencil, and after stenciling, I decided to use the die to emboss the stenciled image.  I really like the result.  The sentiment is from "Flag and Tags Stamps" set by L'il Inker Designs.

I used Distress Oxide inks (worn lipstick, scattered straw, spiced marmalade, and mowed lawn), then added a bit of Wink of Stella (clear) on top of the flowers.

Sending Hugs Birthday Card

I'd been wanting to use a new (to me) stamp set, "Sending Hugs" by Avery Elle, and decided to use it for my nephew's wife's birthday.  There are several critters in the stamp set, and I chose the elephant since my niece-in-law likes them.  I used alcohol markers to color everything and added one little branch from Avery Elle's "Sending Flowers" stamp set.  The frame is "Wonky Squares Frames" also by Avery Elle.  The background is patterned paper.

On the inside, I used another copy of the same elephant from the front of the card, a sentiment from "Happy Birthday Sentiments" by Pinkfresh Studio, along with a strip of the patterned paper.

St. Patrick's Day

I got a new stamp set from Colorado Craft Company and decided I had to make some St. Patrick's Day cards with the cute design by Anita Jeram.

The design on the front is "4-Leaf Clover."  The outer panel is cut with "Stitched Mats: Rectangles" by L'il Inker Designs, and I ink blended Scattered Straw Distress Oxide ink for the yellow glow.

The sentiment on the interior is from the the same stamp set.

Let's Toast Birthday

My younger great nephew is about to turn 20 and seems to enjoy the punny cards I've made him in the past.  This year, I decided to use a stamp/die set that I've had but hadn't yet used - it's "Let's Toast" by Lawn Fawn.  On the front, the toaster, pop tart, the first line of the sentiment, and the pull-tab mechanism  are all from that set.  The "Happy Birthday" is from "Really High Five" stamp set also by Lawn Fawn as is the patterned paper.  The outer edge is from "Stitched Rectangle STAX" by My Favorite Things.

The interior sentiment is from the "Let's Toast" set, and the stitched frame is from L'il Inker Designs.

Birthday Cards with The Greetery

I just found a new company (for me), The Greetery.  I love their designs and wanted to make a card using some of their products.

The stamped images (flowers and greenery) are from "Hoop Wreath" by The Greetery.  The sentiment is from "Floral Notes" by Pinkfresh Studio.  The hoops and the fringe pieces are from "Hoop & Fringe" also by The Greetery.  The cross-stitched edge is "Large Cross-Stitched Rectangle Stackables" from Lawn Fawn.

I actually needed two birthday cards, so I went ahead and made a second card with just some tweaks to the colors and coloring I used.
